Family Development Worker – Full Time


The LINKS Community Services Hub of the Brooks & Area Family Resource Network is the central place for all children, youth and families to access prevention and early intervention services to ensure the well-being of infants, children and youth (0-18 years old).  The Family Development Worker helps caregivers and parents to learn about child and youth development and well-being, provides advocacy and supports in times of need, helps families build strong relationships, and creates supportive social networks in the community.



  • Assessment and goal planning with families who have complex needs, to address and reduce risk factors, and build family protective factors
  • Working with caregivers and parents to engage, teach and support them in achieving their full potential with their children (ages 0 – 18 years)
  • Providing education to caregivers/parents in the areas of child’s physical, emotional and social development
  • Mentoring/coaching parents in life skills training
  • Linking caregivers and parents with community and government services and to positive social networks
  • Case management and facilitation of collaborative services
  • Promoting the community-based family support and advocacy services
  • Group facilitation of children, youth and parents
  • Transporting of clients


  • Diploma or degree in a human service or related area (e.g. social work) and at least two years of experience working with children, youth and families.
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written), computer and social media skills
  • Experience working with families from diverse cultures
  • Family mediation skills; strong relationship-building skills with an awareness of brain development and trauma-informed care principles
  • Committed to providing evidence-based parenting and other programs, some through virtual services
  • Knowledge of parent/child relationships, family dynamics and community resources
  • Ability to work as a member of a professional team
  • Proven decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Standard First Aid – Level C CPR and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) within 3 months
  • Intervention Record & Criminal Record Checks; Class 5 Divers License and Clean Drivers Abstract required prior to hiring
